Latest Updates in Version 1.5:

  • Added (much requested) Grid Pattern!
  • Removed advertisement from main screen – should speed up loading
  • Various bug fixes regarding stability of the app. (This took a while to track everything down but the app runs a LOT smoother now.)

Updates in Version 1.4:

  • Fixed display detection issues, and iTestGen now works with the HDMI adapter! up to 720p HDMI support w/digital audio
  • Added requested ability to pick test image from photo library
  • updated graphics and icon

As this is a hardware and software solution, you will need a VGA or HDMI adapter cable you need to connect from your device’s dock connector to a display device. Please note that the iPhone/iPod touch does not support external VGA/HDMI output on hardware versions that do not have the retina display (ie: iPhone 3G & 3GS) You will also require the latest iOS firmware for HDMI support.

iTestGen supports the following video output resolutions:

  • 1024 x 768
  • 1280 x 720
  • [640 x 480 and 800 x 600 will display, but in a stretched image format]
  • 1920 x 1080 (1080p) – COMING SOON!

You can use the supplied test patterns to troubleshoot cabling, connector, or switching problems in an AV installation environment. Great for technicians in the field who need a quick verification of signal and don’t want to pull out a laptop every time. One of the best features of having a test generator on your phone is that you don’t have to worry about finding a power outlet! iTestGen also provides audio output. This allows you to verify that your audio signals are going through the system in addition to the video.

  • White Noise
  • Pink Noise (Pro version only)
  • 1KHz Tone (Pro version only)
